CLASS TITLE:
Hatbox Field Maintenance Worker
I
PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for performing a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled
and skilled tasks, custodial duties, repair, maintenance and renovation
activities of Parks and Recreation facilities and grounds and other
miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that facilities are maintained in a
healthy, safe and sanitary manner.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
=
Assists with the operation and maintenance of Hatbox
Field; Event Center, hangars, dance building, RV park & Hatbox Sports
Complex.

Maintains
the daily cleaning of assigned fixtures, facilities and grounds; picks up and
empties trash and debris, cleans facilities including restrooms and
office/break room areas. Vacuums, sweeps,
mops, waxes and polishes floors; washes walls, woodwork, windows and window
blinds; dusts.

Cleans, services and supplies appropriate dispensers
throughout facilities.

Prepares facilities and grounds for events, festivals,
rentals and all recreational activities.

Participates
in the repair and maintenance of City facilities, equipment and property.

Operates
hand tools, power tools and other small equipment, light trucks, golf carts,
tractors and other machinery including skid steers, forklifts and scissor
lifts.

Performs cleaning and related activities
such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs within the assigned
buildings and grounds. Spreads snow melting
chemicals as required.

Performs special events set-up, clean up
and removal activities and assembling and disassembling of various equipment.

Assists in and promotes good relations to
diverse populations.

Maintains compliance with purchasing
procedures and complies with City policies and procedures.

Participates in assembling and
disassembling various equipment.
=
Inspects facilities, equipment and grounds
to ensure safety and cleanliness.
=
Prepares work orders for special
maintenance needs and supplies.
=
Reports and responds to emergency calls for
custodial or maintenance duties.
=
Operates office equipment such as fax
machines, copiers, phone systems and computer.
=
Performs other work as necessary and or as
assigned.

Must report to work on a regular and timely
basis. The duties listed above are

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Hatbox Field Maintenance
Worker I reports directly to the Hatbox Field Maintenance Leader I.
The Hatbox Field Maintenance
Worker I does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous custodial and maintenance experience
preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Abilities and
Skills: Good knowledge of manual
labor work practices, methods, tools and materials of varied general
maintenance work; and good knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of
the work. Knowledge of maintaining, cleaning and preserving a variety of
surfaces; proper use of a wide range of chemicals and handling and disposing of
hazardous materials with care. Ability
to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to use
various types of tools and custodial equipment; and the ability to courteously
and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of
the organization and the public in giving and receiving information.

performing the duties of this job, arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity
will be needed enough to use a keyboard and telephone. Frequent walking,
standing and sitting; frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing over sixty
(60) pounds; frequent bending, handling, reaching, climbing, twisting,
kneeling, stooping and repetitive movements; occasional balancing and crawling.
Vision, speech, hearing and feeling sufficient to perform essential tasks. Punctuality and reasonable attendance is
essential. Must submit to drug screening
and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and
Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D
driver’s license is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Indoors and outdoors in various
weather conditions. Will travel to other City locations as required. Exposure to wet, hot, cold and/or humid
conditions. Requires ability to work nights,
weekends, holidays and irregular hours.
Notice: This classification is a “safety sensitive”
position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and
alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and
Alcohol Testing Act and/or the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, the
employee will be subject to drug and alcohol testing including random
testing. Marijuana is one of the
substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license
will not excuse the employee from the testing process or the consequences of
testing positive for marijuana.
MINIMUM PAY:
$12.23/hr. Excellent employee
benefits (insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement, holidays).
WORK HOURS: 7:00 a.m. to
3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Schedule may vary according to need.
Requires ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and irregular
hours. Occasional overtime/flexing of
hours.
WORK LOCATION: City of
Muskogee Parks and Recreation Department, Recreation Division (Hatbox Event
Center), 3601 Arline Avenue., Muskogee, Oklahoma.
